About: The New Health Mental Health Counseling Services: TNHMHCS practice has grown to become one of the largest private group practices in Long Island, New York serving all of Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island. TNHMHCS employs over 60 employees. TNHMHCS provides counseling services in Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Greek. TNHMHCS has a hybrid model that meets the needs of clients who find it difficult to leave their home. TNHMHCS has strong affiliate relationships with Hunter College, Queens College, Adelphi University, Walden University, Liberty University, Columbia University, City College, St. John’s University to name a few.

TNHMHCS has a very competitive Clinical Internship Program that trains students from these institutions of higher learning. Every year TNHMHCS trains close to 50 interns and often employs some of the graduating interns.

Clinton Clovis, President – The New Hope Mental Health Counseling Services and Long Island Business News 2022 Diversity in Business Awards Honoree

Clinton Clovis, LMHC, CCTS-F, CAMS-II, President – Born in Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies and migrated to the US in 2001. Prior to migrating to the U.S., Clinton worked as a Corrections Officer within the penal system of Trinidad and Tobago for 11 years. During his time working in corrections, Clinton worked as the program coordinator of the restorative justice program within prisons. He traveled to other Caribbean islands developing rehabilitation programs for implementation in the region’s prison system, igniting in him a passion for psychology and counseling.

Clinton graduated Hunter College with honors with a masters in mental health counseling. Today he is in his second year of his Ph.D in psychology. Clinton is President of The New Hope Mental Health Counseling Services located on the border of Queens and Long Island. Clinton is a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist and a Certified Anger Management Specialist level II. Clinton leads a team of licensed mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists and social workers in providing affordable mental health services for people predominantly of color. Clinton is an ordained minister with a vision of exploding the myths of mental health in the black and brown community.

About: Don Sinkfield, LMHC, CAMS II, Vice President and Director of Administration – Don holds a master’s degree in school and mental health counseling from Queens College. Don is also certified in domestic violence intervention as well as a level 2 Anger Management Specialist. Don’s passion for counseling started in the New York City school system where he devoted a little more than 20 years dedicated to helping at-risk youths. Don’s skills as a counselor were recognized by his colleagues who commended him for his calming effect on the students. Don’s interest as a counselor piqued when he took the risk to open his own practice, Help to Adjust Counseling and Anger Management. Together with a few counselors he met the need for the members of the community by providing affordable mental health services. 

Don holds the position of Vice President and Director of Administration. He oversees the administrative staff and operation guiding operating methods, improving information systems and policies.
