Nassau County, New York – On June 19, 2019 the Long Island Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its monthly meeting at the Freeport Memorial Library located at 144 West Merrick Road, Freeport, New York 11520. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 pm and end at 8:30 pm. The meeting agenda includes a special presentation by Next LI and pertinent information regarding the 2020 Census Count. Register here: https://liaacc.org/events-calendar/#!event/2019/6/19/liaacc-apos-s-general-meeting Nassau County Execuura Curran stated in Newsday at a news conference in Mineola, “Curran conceded that the county will face massive challenges in meeting that goal in the decennial Census.” The U.S. Census Bureau calculates Nassau as the fifth hardest-to-count county in the state — behind Queens, Kings (Brooklyn), Bronx and Suffolk counties — because of its high proportion of typically under-counted groups, including communities of color, immigrants, young children and renters.  Recently the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce (LIAACC), President Phil Andrews was awarded by the New York District Office of the Small Business Administration as the 2019 Small Business Champion Downstate, New York which services the area New York City, Long Island, and the downstate counties of Duchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester. The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s President Phil Andrews has been spearheading the growth of New York State’s Chamber of Commerce known by its acronym, LIAACC, since September of 2013.  The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. serves the four counties of Queens, Kings (Brooklyn), Suffolk, Nassau and Suffolk.
