Hempstead, New York – In an historic year for New York State’s largest African American Chamber of Commerce the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (LIAACC) will be hosting its 1st Day of activities at the Town of Hempstead Pavilion located at One Washington Street, Hempstead, New York.
We are grateful to Deputy Supervisor Dorothy L. Goosby and the Town Board for supporting Minority Enterprise Development in America’s largest Township consecutive years. The Village of Hempstead is located in the Town of Hempstead and is the largest Village in the State of New York by population.
At last year’s Minority Enterprise Development Month Deputy Supervisor was honored for her groundbreaking leadership, commitment, and service to the Town of Hempstead. The inaugural day of Minority Enterprise Development Month is set for Thursday, October 9th, 2025, and will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm.

This year’s Minority Enterprise Development Month activities are part of the Long Island African American Commerce, Inc.’s 15th year anniversary.

2019, the New York Metro District of the United States Small Business Administration names Phil Andrews as 2019 Small Business Champion for 14 Counties Downstate, New York and surrounding areas.
2021, LIAACC’s President named to Long Island Business News Top Powerful list of leaders during the pandemic.
2022, Minority Enterprise Development Week launched on Long Island – MED Week now proclaimed as Minority Enterprise Development Month.
2021, Chamber was selected to participate in the Community Navigator Pilot. LI African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. served as participating organization in the Community Navigator Pilot Program which was funded in part through United States Black Chamber’s grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The grant, awarded to 51 applicants nationally and was a part of a $100 million initiative to help reduce the barriers that underrepresented and underserved entrepreneurs face in accessing the programs and services that they need.
2022, The Long Island Association’s Small Business Support Program partnership program launched in partnership with the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
2025, National Small Business Week launched in New York State on Long Island.
The SBA’s Community Navigator Pilot Program was created to ensure that small and micro-businesses receive support and access to federal relief programs in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that can help them recover, grow, and thrive. The grant was structured as a “Hub and Spoke” model to utilize networks and community advocates to assist historically underserved small businesses and entrepreneurs to better connect to the critical resources needed to launch, pivot, and recover from the impacts of the pandemic.
August 2022 – LIAACC Named by National Organization U. S. Black Chambers of Commerce, Inc. as Spoke of the Month – “Being bestowed such a prestigious honor is motivation for our chamber to continue the work daily to support our members and businesses in our wider network. Evaluation for Spoke of the Month – US Black Chambers, Inc. Spoke of the Month!

The recognition highlighted LIAACC for their notable service to local businesses within their community, weekly meetings with the Outreach Specialists, weekly attendance and participation at USBC’s Community Navigator meetings. Timely notification of impending Chamber events and materials for inclusion in USBC socials and e-blasts, registrations and attendance at USBC-hosted events and webinars were included. The Chamber was successful in satisfying counseling, training, and intake goals and submissions of adequate quarterly reports and invoices. Promotion of USBC events and webinars, cobranded events executed in collaboration with USBC, speaker referrals for upcoming goals and technical assistance programs were all met with satisfactory results.
