Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce Encourages Consumers to Support Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26th, 2022

New York, New York — The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. encourages the consumers to support Small Business Saturday. This year Small Business Saturday is scheduled on Saturday, November 26th, 2022.

We are asking consumers in New York State to consider supporting small business owners as small business owners depend on this time of the year to significantly increase their sales. We are also requesting that customers consider supporting minority and women owned businesses that were significantly impacted by the economic crises during the last two years.

LIAACC serves the counties of Kings, Nassau, Queens, and Suffolk. The 400-member chamber has been selected for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Community Navigator Program as a spoke, a 100 million outreach effort to firms that are in underserved communities and have been adversely impacted by the Covid-19 crises.

In October of 2022 the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. launched the Inaugural Minority Enterprise Development Week (MED) on Long Island which was hosted by Hempstead Town Hall.

A theme of MED Week was that Minority entrepreneurs can benefit from increased commitment of the federal and state governments to award contracts to them, but only if they first have a strong, well-organized operation, officials said at the conference.

The ultimate goal for MED Week is to expand MED Week into MED Month in 2023. As part of Minority Enterprise Development Week, a second event was held by the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc along with the African American Small Business Foundation, Inc. and with Hofstra’s Entrepreneurship Assistance Center at The Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Scott Skodnek Business Development Center.

The second event of Minority Enterprise Development Week provided workshops on growing and expanding your small business and included developing your business model, access to capital, and procurement.

On December 1, 2022 the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc and the African American Small Business Foundation, Inc. will be hosting a Red-Carpet Affair to raise funds to support the programs and activities of the chamber. The African American Small Business Foundation, Inc. was established to support the programs and activities of the chamber. The foundation is a 501 c 3 Non-for-Profit Tax-exempt organization. The African American Chamber Small Business Foundation, Inc. services the minority community in counties of Downstate, New York which includes New York City, Long Island, and the downstate counties of Duchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester.

The foundation provides Financial Literacy Training, Entrepreneurial Training, financial literacy, access to capital, workforce development, advocacy, chamber development, economic community empowerment, facilitate workshops and panels, and small business counseling services.
