Long Island, New York – Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s President Phil Andrews honored at The A LIST Awards Gala. On Thursday, Nov. 3, the 2022 A LIST of honorees were feted at Schneps Media’s annual event where extraordinary men are recognized for their accomplishments and their commitment to the NY community.

The A LIST Honorees from Manhattan to Montauk

The event took place at The Heritage Club at Bethpage, and welcomed over 300 people to celebrate and network at one of Schneps. The honorees selected are men across all industries and nonprofits from Manhattan to Montauk who have made and continue to make a positive impact.

In addition to the honorees the event was the ultimate networking event, and a joyful celebration, the event will raise money for a local cause. One hundred percent of all raffle proceeds will go to support Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro.

About: Phil Andrews, A LIST Honoree – In 1995 and 1998, Mr. Andrews’ excellence in his field garnered the Small Business Person of the Year award by two branches of the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce (Roosevelt and West Indian Chambers, respectively).

He has also received a number of proclamations and citations from notable political officials including former Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gullotta, former Town of Hempstead Supervisor Richard Guardino and Assembly-woman Earlene Hooper Hill, 18th Assembly District of Long Island NY. In 2012, Phil Andrews was honored by the Korean American Association of Greater New York with the “Good Neighbor Award.

Mr. Andrews was also inducted as one of the Kings of Queens as an honoree in 2014. As President of LIAACC on March 24, 2016 the chamber was awarded and Excellence in Communication Award by Long Island Business News.

The chamber has appeared on WABC’s Here and Now on two separate occasions and has be featured on NBC’s Positively Black.

In March of 2021 Mr. Andrews was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Long Island Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Interfaith Nutrition Network, and serves on the Leadership Council of the Big Brothers and Sisters of Long Island.

The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. was selected by the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. to be a spoke in the SBA’s Community Navigator Pilot Program. During the month of August 2022, the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. was selected by the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. as Spoke of the Month.

He was selected as the New York District Office of the US SBA 2019 Champion 2019 Small Business Champion Downstate, New York.

Under Mr. Andrews leadership the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. launched Minority Enterprise Development Week on Long Island in 0ctober of 2022. In 2023, Minority Enterprise Development Month will be held in New York and will be hosted by the African American Small Business Foundation, Inc. and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

Phil learned early on the importance of community and education. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn Technical High School (one of the country’s most recognized schools for academic excellence). After serving several years in the US Navy and Army Reserves, attending York College (Jamaica, Queens, NY) and John Jay College, (New York, NY), he graduated from paralegal school and began a nearly twenty-year career in law enforcement.

Community, Service and Education have been constant themes in his life. Andrews’ drive is a profound concern for his community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce, Roosevelt Kiwanis Club, and served as the West Indian Chamber of Commerce as its Public Relations Director.

Mr. Andrews owns the Power Networking Business Seminar Series, a business network that builds viable connections between community and businesses.

He continues to build networks in and across many an industry; but, none more important than that of the education and mentorship of young people. As a Certified Mentor, Phil Andrews’ goals involve encouraging as many promising young men as possible by compelling them to serve with the very best of their minds and talents.
